About Karin Bolstad
I was born in Minnesota, but grew up in Washington State. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Illustration and Design from Western Washington University in 1994, and since then I have worked both as a freelance illustrator/designer and as an in-house illustrator/designer (among other things).
Currently, I am playing around with web design and having fun doing art for art's sake; and live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband Scott, my baby daughter Luren, my cat Stella, and my Irish Wolfhound, Oskar.
My artwork is primarily figurative, and my current favorite mediums are acrylic painting & linoleum printing. Some of my favorite artists (and influences) are Gustav
Klimt, Amedeo
Modigliani, Kay
Nielson,
Michael
Sowa, Mercer Mayer, and Edward Gorey.CONTACT:

Both Ways Cafe
I had a few pieces lying around...and rather than have them accumulate dust, they are now hanging in my favorite neighborhood breakfast and lunch joint for November!
If you go check them out, stay for food. The baked goods are super yummmy. I always have the eggs with spinach for breakfast and the tuna sandwich for lunch.
Both Ways is located at Genessee and 50th Ave S, near Lake Washington.
Enjoy!

New Petaline!
2006 was about designing and running an online boutique with my friend Alison. It was an amazing learning experience, which we decided to take a break from this spring after I found out I was pregnant and Alison had just had a baby. Now Ali has taken Petaline and created a new Petaline that is not only her shop, but also her blog and her "flea market finds" - it's super awesome! Check it out at www.petaline.net.
Way to go Alison!!!!!

Have I mentioned....?
For those of you who know what I've been up to for the past couple years, you know that my friend Alison and I started an online boutique called Petaline. We decided to take a break after she had her baby Ruby and I got pregnant, and since then have decided to dissolve the partnership. However, Alison is continuing on with her own online shop ideas under the name Petaline - so stay tuned! You can check out her blog HERE.
Another Show???
Here I thought I wouldn't be showing anywhere for the rest of the year, since I'll be having a baby in August - BUT it looks like I'll be hanging some work at Cafe Ladro in Bothell for July and August. I'll keep you posted.

Most Recent Project
This summer is going to be about graphic design for me - I have no art shows planned, though I did just rent a painting studio in Georgetown - how artsy of me!
Anyway I've been exploring the world of Wordpress to use as a content management system to build smaller sized websites for people, so they can manage them theirselves. This is my first one!

I haven't looked it in all browsers to make sure it's not wonky, but otherwise it's purty much done! I'm super proud of it and Shelly loves it - the best scenario for a designer!

Caffe Vita, March 1- April 30

New show!
A collection of both new work and art from over the past year is up at Caffe Vita in the Capital Hill neighborhood of Seattle (1005 E Pike Street). If you didn't get a chance to see any of the other shows, now's the time to check it out. I'm not sure if there's going to be another show this year (unless I get majorally inspired), since I'll be busy prepping for baby. We're due at the end of August, and I'm planning on doing a lot of house and garden projects before the baby is born, which may take up the bulk of my time.
I do plan on making my website better though, and adding to my etsy shop, and blogging more often - so I won't completely disappear off the map -
So here's some images from Caffe Vita!
